IRAN - C.I.S. RAILWAY LINK

The Sarakhs - Tajan Rail Link was officially opened on 13th May 1996, connecting the Iranian Southern Ports and entire Iranian Railway Network to C.I.S. destinations.

Operational Scheme

Due to the difference between the C.I.S. and Iran rail gauges, axles of wagons are changed at Sarakhs. Facilities for axle change is in place.

Iranian Rail Gauge is: 1435mm - C.I.S. Rail Gauge is: 1524mm

Rates and Tariffs

Iran joined the C.I.S. Unified Tariff Scheme from the outset. There were a few variations in the scheduling coefficients and exchange factors which Iran enforced in its tariffs. However, Iran presently observes the following Unified terms, conditions and factors.

Maximum tunnel height enroute: 4.8 metres
